Calm Source is expanding the Crisis Intervention Services and Substance abuse intervention programs in Danville, VA & Pittsylvania County. Calm Source is dedicated to creating the highest quality of care for members of our community.

Calm Source is seeking a qualified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who will provide outpatient psychiatric services for our Mental Health services, including Crisis Intervention, Mental Health Skill Services, Intensive In-Home, and Substance abuse outpatient counseling. The position is primarily in the office, with telehealth as a secondary option.

Responsibilities

The PMHNP is a vital member of Calm Source’s multidisciplinary community mental health team and will provide psychiatric services to those in crisis in the Danville, VA, Pittsylvania County areas.

They determine a client's appropriateness for admission and medical necessity for services. The PMHNP is expected to utilize processes to assess the level of care needed for the client. The PMHNP will coordinate client care with other medical and psychiatric providers, including transfer to an outside facility when required.

The PMHNP is expected to coordinate its work with Calm Source’s outpatient counseling services and liaise with community partners and agencies, per Calm Source policies and procedures.

May need to provide after-hours and on-call coverage for crisis stabilization and emergency services.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing.
  • Licensure in Virginia as a Nurse Practitioner with formal training and Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). A minimum of two years’ experience is preferred.
  • Certified Advanced Practice Program in Psychiatry and Mental Health for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.
  • A valid driver's license and safe driving record are required.
